Forbidden Love (Aubade)

as stars they dim
to end the night
i quietly leave
my lover’s arms
the sleepy guaita*, Moon
sounds the alarm
through window, Alba*
brings dawn’s first light

*guaita (guard) and Alba (sun)… elements in strict aubades, poems that tell the tales of forbidden lovers separating at dawn.
